So you have been invited to a dress up costume party and you want to go as Barbie. Well look no further. Here are some helpful hints and ideas to help you. There are many outfits you can choose depending on the theme and it can be a lot of fun!

Hair- Barbie’s hair is blonde and usually long so you may need to purchase a cheap wig if you don’t have this style hair. Barbie wears her hair in a variety of ways-plaits, straight, wavy, up in a bun and often accessorizes with a tiara, fancy hairclips or a headband.

Clothes-Pink is usually the go! Short skirts and a T shirt top for the casual look and a pair of stilettos or long boots! Or jeans and a tight fitting blazer type top. Barbie dresses in such a variety of costumes it is easy to adapt your outfit. You can be a cowgirl, bride, princess, fairy, beach Barbie, cheerleader or ballerina. Be creative! You could even purchase a top with a Barbie logo on the front.

Accessories-A glitzy or bright handbag is a must and lots of bling! Big sunglasses, costume jewellery, hoop earrings and a belt. Barbie also wears hats and gloves so depending on your outfit-accessorize accordingly! You could even carry an accessory to complete the look such as a boom box, wand, towel, goggles, streamers etc. depending on the themed outfit you choose!

Makeup- Wear a very pale foundation or face powder as Barbie is quite pale. Pink lipstick and a bit of shimmer, pink or blue eye shadow, fake eyelashes and pink nail polish!

Another innovative idea is to make and wear a Barbie package by using a big narrow box that will fit over the top of you. Cut out a window in the front-the length of the box and paint it in the colours of the shop packaging. It’s Barbie in a box-just for a bit of fun!
