Flower girl dresses need not be traditional white and fluffy

 Tradition has had it in American wedding culture for decades the standerd flower girl dress uniform. Usually this will be a satin, taffeta, or organza white dress with a fat oversized sash colored with the theme of the bridesmaids dresses. This works well for expensive childrens wear since the sash is usually removable and can be switched out with another color. This allows the girl to wear the dress a second time with a whole new look.

   Recently, however, we have seen a new trend in fashion. Happy to say, the old plain white dress is out and sparkle sequin and bright colors are in. We are seeing these beautiful tropical calypso colors in carnival themed weddings. We are seeing rich silver and golds with a glamorous shimmer. Even styles a little more grown up and pageant like are making an appearance.

The cc106 Wanda Dress has been a smashing popular style this season. Currently available in Red and Black, Turquoise and Lime, Purple, Silver, Gold, and Bright Pink. This has been one of the most popular styles that screams, /”celebration/”!

This style

flower girl dress  is completey new to the wedding theme this season. We have seen these dresses out the door non stop and not just for flower girls. Since they come upto size 14, the beloved junior bridesmaids are able to find their size. The great style is grown up enough for the tweens to feel pretty and not babyish in this modern style.

Spaghetti strap bodice dresses are another great attribute to this style. You need not be a professional seemstress to make any alterations for a perfect fit. With just a few easy stitches the shoulder length can be fixed to prevent any gapping. A matching shawl is not an unusual accessory in the traditional dress, and it hasn’t been forgotten here either. Each dress comes with a matching satin wrap perfect for pictures or if the breeze picks up at an outside wedding.

Although , we usually recommend a petti coat with all girls formalwear accessories, we were surprised to find just how lush, full, and fluffy this piece was without the additional underlayer. The girls in the photo are only wearing the dress and there is not additional fullness added under the skirt to create this full look. The dress itself does come with an attached slip, and it is a touch fuller than most. 

Over all we are loving the new trend for 2012 and we just cant wait to see what this evolves into. We dont see it going away any time soon with the sheer volume of popularity and interest that has come our way about this cut. Keep watching, the Autumn season is coming soon and sequins never die!
